So honored and humble to have been awarded a grant from Brooklyn Brewery!
Say hello to Carla Scholz, our Entrepreneurship category winner and the founder of Soak iT Up.
After years designing cheeky tees and producing direct mail catalogs, Carla turned her creativity toward sustainability – launching Swedish sponge cloths, each one capable of replacing up to 1,500 paper towels.
Then she went even further with Clards: a patented greeting card that transforms into two soft, reusable cleaning cloths. They’re washable, long-lasting, and compostable – an eco-friendly alternative to traditional cards that makes every message more meaningful.
Judge Steve Hindy put it best:
“Carla has developed a new idea for greeting cards that will please anyone who feels some regret about America’s everyday waste of paper. Instead of discarding a birthday or special occasion card, you can simply Soak It Up and re-use it as a dish rag. It’s a smart idea that I know will appeal to many.”
We’re proud to support Carla as she shows how small swaps can lead to big change. ✨
